ORIGINS OF THE WORK - JANUARY 5, 2009
Michael recently
gave a talk about the "origins of the work" which might serve as a guide for people who want to know more about
his vision as well as some of the topics that we explore at the meetings.
Initial Rumblings
- a long-lived intuition
of something more;
- the impulse to be authentically oneself;
- striving to find one's place in the world;
- exploring
questions of identity and calling;
- the danger of sharing
one's deepest heart;
- risking everything for what matters most;
- one of our deepest fears is the unlived life;
Secrets of the Heart
- gathering onself for the adventure that awaits;
- allowing truth to go wherever
it needs to go;
- holding to integrity in the unexpected storm;
- encountering what we actually fear the
most;
- anguish, loss, and the moment of surrender;
- implosion of all structures of self-protection;
-
sometimes there's no resistance left to offer;
- love is an energy field, not an emotion;
- nakedness, vulnerability,
and the broken heart;
- familiar reference points are all stripped away;
- an inability to re-create distance
from what is;
- what a relief to be a real, simple human being;
- open to the tension and suffering in the world;
- whatever is going on must be what i asked for;
- noticing something "sacred" in the atmosphere;
- giving oneself to what is now trying to happen;
A New Life Emerges Out of the Ashes
- deep silence,
inquiry and the flow of knowing;
- encountering the repressed contents of mind;
- choosing love as a guide
through destruction;
- learning to listen to life in an imaginative way;
- embracing the language and wisdom of dreams;
- rediscovering the link between voice and heart;
- this
intimate unfoldment has to be lived through;
- not a day goes by without a test of some kind;
- how much of reality
can you really show up for;
- synchronicity, magic, and the
nonlinear reality;
- death as a portal to a larger, unseen reality;
- creation moves from the invisible to the
visible;
- group work as an experimental practice field;
- exploring the subtle dimensions of leadership;
- integrity, spontaneity, and "living on the verge";
Exploring the Deeper Potentials of the Heart
- whatever wants to happen is what i'm here for;
- entering back into the heart of the wound;
-
listening deeply into the space beyond words;
- waiting for that one truth we are ready to hear;
- what if there
is no such thing as a spiritual path;
- you never know how radical truth can really be;
- relying
on the validity of one's direct experience;
- sinking more deeply into the felt sense of being;
- entering
into the chaos of the creative process;
- glimpses of movement without personal volition;
- an abrupt turning inward of the discursive
mind;
- a few
final images before perception disappears;
- adjusting to the indescribable quiet of no-mind;
- a view of the mind from a boundless perspective;
- a deeper, silent watcher appears on the scene;
- all subjective awareness bending back on itself;
- the indescribable thrill and delight of remembrance;
- the eternal
reality is not just a poetic expression;
- something other than the “me” is actually awake;
- all individuality has collapsed into the
uncreated;
- implicit freedom, wonder, and mystery of what is;
- the revelation of divinity in an interactive context;
- the catalytic, healing power of the core essence;
- "coming back" and a return of the functional
self;
- adjustment, integration and working with the light.
